Health is mental, physical, social and spiritual well-being,
not just the absence of disease.
All of us must be nurtured and cared for at some time during
our lives. Our daily habits influence our health. A diet based on fruits and
vegetables, daily graded exercise and proper rest are essential ingredients for
good health. In addition to this, it is important for all of us to follow
recommended screenings. Late stage cancers and other advanced conditions may be
prevented if screening schedules are adhered to. The Surgical Health Collective
believes in prevention based on healthy daily habits and appropriate
screenings. When surgical intervention is required, we are ready to provide
care that emphasizes current technological advances combined with a philosophy
of caring and concern. Helping people with skill and caring is more than a
phrase. It is the internal vision that drives what we do.
We believe that education holds the key to decreasing these
persistent rates of death and suffering. We emphasize that each person must
know their family history (which has an impact on the diseases that one may be
subject to) and their essential health information.
We believe that effective communication with ones’ doctor can make a big
difference. Every individual should know their medications, the dosage and side
effects.
They must know the warning signs that mandate an evaluation by
a physician and must keep up with their vital signs like blood pressure and
heart rate. Maintaining a healthy weight is another important objective. Talk
with your physician about your weight, diet and blood pressure. Engage your
doctor as part of your health team.
